A West Point graduate, Kennard Nash served as a military intelligence officer in the army during the Vietnam War. From 1972-1974, he was US Military Attaché to Chile.

Returning to America, he received a PhD. in International Relations from Harvard University. His dissertation thesis was transformed into the best-selling book Fire and Sword: Responding to the Threat of Global Terrorism.

Brigadier General Nash was Director of Special Projects for the Department of Defense for five years. He then served in the White House for two administrations as the Deputy National Security Advisor.

Retiring from a lifetime of public service, General Nash became Executive Director of the Evergreen Foundation.
